Eligibility Criteria for Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship
To apply for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, students must meet the following eligibility conditions:
General Conditions
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- The annual family income should not exceed ₹2,50,000.
Educational Requirements
Higher Secondary (HS)
- Minimum 60% marks in Madhyamik Pariksha (10th).
- Only students under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education can apply.
Diploma Courses
- Minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exam (excluding optional subjects).
- Courses must be AICTE/PCI/CoA-approved and affiliated with WBSCT&VE&SD.
- Students entering first year (after Madhyamik) or second year (lateral entry after HS) are eligible.
Undergraduate (UG)
- Minimum 60% marks in aggregate in the Higher Secondary Exam (HS) conducted by WBCHSE or Madrasha Siksha Parishad.
- Separate merit lists are prepared for Arts, Commerce, and Science streams.
Postgraduate (PG)
- Minimum 53% marks in the Honours subject at the graduation level.
- Only Honours subject marks are considered for merit.
- Kanyashree scholarship holders pursuing PG in Arts, Science, or Commerce with at least 45% marks in UG are also eligible. (Income certificate not required for them.)
Research Level (M.Phil./Ph.D.)
- Full-time M.Phil. or Ph.D. candidates registered after April 1, 2017, are eligible.
- Duration: Up to 2 years for M.Phil. and 4 years for Ph.D.
- Support discontinues once a scholar qualifies for NET-LS or joins a teaching post.
